Like. A. Boss. ipsy Bag #8

Year 1 Matt and Tia. Our first work Christmas party together

We look like babies!

Here’s how ipsy works:
ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription. Each month you recieve a themed makeup bag stuffed with five (mostly sample sized) products. I can’t emphasize enough that they are sample sized, although at least one item will be full sized. It’s a “try before you buy” type of subscription, and a generally fun way to find new things that you love (or hate). Every person’s bag is a different variation based off of the style quiz they complete upon signing up. That means you probably won’t get the same thing as your friends, which is pretty cool!
The cost is $10/month or $110 for a year.

Bag #8 (September 2017)

This month’s bag is for boss babes everywhere. The card features a message from the co-founder of the popular Korean beauty brand Soko-Glam.

Don’t get me wrong. I love it when ipsy does quirky bags with cartoons and fun prints and all that, but this bag is bomb. It’s made of faux leather with a gold zipper. The zipper tab is folded over faux leather, and the inside is a cobalt blue color. I find this bag really classy and I think it’s a decent size. It would be great for keeping in your purse.

ColourPop Cosmetic Ultra Glossy Lip in ipsy VIP

First up is the GORG ColourPop gloss. I requested this item in my bag because, even though I’m not a huge fan of glosses, I’m a sucker for brand collabs. I didn’t find the product to be especially long lasting, but it’s a gloss so I’m not really surprised about that. I thought it had a good amount of shine and was comfortable to wear, without that terrible sticky feel that most glosses come with. And it’s packed with pigment.

Ciaté London Wonderwand Mascara in Black Magic

I swear by eyeko mascara, so I’m pretty hard to impress by others. I found it hard to apply because the sample size came with a short handle and a big bulking applicator. It was pretty hard to use without getting everywhere. It’s not terrible. It did add length to my lashes, but no volume. It wasn’t anything special, in my opinion.

SKIN FOOD Black Sugar Mask Wash Off

I opted out of sheet masks because I have a very large collection from these past few bags that I’ll probably never use. I wasn’t expecting to receive a different form of mask so soon after, but oh well. Here it is. I think it worked pretty well. It wasn’t uncomfortable to wear for the 15 minutes it took, and it made my face feel really soft afterwards. Not to mention it smelled great. I liked that it was an exfoliant and a moisturizer.

Beauty For Real I-LINE 24-7 Eyeliner in Champagne Buzz

This eyeliner is probably really nice, but I’ll never know because ipsy sent me a color that doesn’t have a chance in the world of showing up on my skin tone. The only thing that I can positively say I liked about it, is that it’s self sharpening. And really, that’s it.

Elizabeth Mott Pop! Goes The Shadow in Gunmetal

This shadow is very pigmented, and velvety soft. I could see it being easily blendable. Gunmetal is a steely grey color.. much like everything else ipsy sends me for some reason. Would it kill them to throw in a pop of color now and then? Anyway, I can’t fault the shadow for that. I like the shimmer and I think it wears well.

In the end, I’d rate this bag three out of five stars. I don’t like the color of the shadow, but I like the shadow itself, and I really enjoyed the mask. The gloss is my favorite item this month. I can’t even use the eyeliner and I’m not a fan of the mascara at all. I can’t wait to see what next month’s bag holds!

And here’s the look with all of the items from my bag this month!

Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next time! 🙂
