Once again, I have to apologize. This blog post got pulled over from my previous blogging platform and it just messed up all of the code. All of the pictures are low quality and weird sizes and there are spacing issues and issues with fonts and sizing. I tried to fix it, but even I have my limits. Sorry for any of the frustration this may cause you as a reader. It certainly caused me plenty as the writer (sigh).

Does she hate me?

The jury is still out.

How does ipsy work?

Type of subscription: beauty
Frequency: monthly
Product size: deluxe sample, although most people will receive at least one full sized item
Amount of products received: 5, always + a makeup bag
Cost: $10/month or $110/year

Each month you recieve a themed makeup bag stuffed with products. It’s a “try before you buy” type of subscription, and a generally fun way to find new things that you love (or hate). Every person’s bag is a different variation based off of the style quiz they complete upon signing up. That means you probably won’t get the same thing as your friends, which is pretty cool!

Ready to take the plunge? Use my referral link —> ipsy. Using this link will earn me ipsy points, which I can use to purchase extra items to add to my bag every month

I pay for this subscription.

The theme for this month is Flying Colors, which is an amazing way to incorporate Pride month. This theme is near and dear to me as some of the people who are closest to me fall somewhere on the LGBT+ spectrum.

Bag #17 (June 2018)

The bag this month came in three different varieties: red, yellow, and blue. It features a color block pattern with a heart shaped zipper and a solid color lining that matches the bag. I got yellow, which is the color that I was hoping for!

MAC Prep + Prime Skin – full size $31

I didn’t open this product and will probably trade it at a later date, because I’ve already received this item multiple times from different subscriptions. That being said, of course I’m always excited to receive high end brand items like MAC. I like this primer. It’s lightweight and spreads evenly, keeping your makeup in place all day.
KVOSSNYC Macaroon Lip Balm (full size!) – retail $14
I heart lip products. Especially chapsticks and balms. I’ll probably never use one in its entirety, but at least I know I’m guaranteed to use them at all. This lip balm happens to be a full size product (score!). It comes in a pot, which isn’t my favorite, but it smells amazing. It’s not at all sticky and has a faint sweet taste to it.
More skincare. Thank you ipsy! I actually needed a new exfoliator so this one came at just the right time. This scrub is safe for those of us with sensitive skin. It has large crystalline beads made out of salt that really deep clean your skin, leaving it feeling smoother and brighter looking.
This blush came in two variations, and I’m really glad that I got Primadonna (a shimmery rosy pink) as opposed to Prom Queen (a shimmery champagne). This blush is silky smooth and layers well. It’s perfect as a natural tint. I’m a total blush girl. I mean, it’s one of my absolute favorite makeup items. And this blush is one of my new faves.
Finding Ferdinand Mini Lip Stick in Au Naturel (full size, weirdly enough) – retail $6
The cool thing about the brand Finding Ferdinand is that if you love the formula of their lipsticks and want to try more colors without spending the cash (like me) you can create your own mini-lipstick pack of 4. That being said, I received Au Natural in my ipsy bag and I was a little bit bummed. Au Natural is described as a soft, nude lip color with a hint of pink. So, basically the same color as every other lip product that ipsy sends me. Considering there were two other options available: Rose Gold and Flaming Fuchsia, you can see why I was a little disappointed. Thankfully, you can’t always judge a book by its cover. Like I said previously, the formula is great! And I actually liked the shade a lot more than I thought I would.
Verdict:
I would rate this ipsy bag 5/5 stars! I already have tried the MAC primer, but at least I knew that I liked it! I can never complain about more skincare and lip balms, and lipsticks and blushes are my favorite items. So this month really knocked it out of the park for me! 🙂
Thanks for reading!
