July 2018
This month’s theme is “Hot Tropics.” The back of the information card details the products you receive.
Smack Beauty Bat Those Lashes Volumizing Lash Serum – retail $19.99
This is a really fun item to receive in a beauty box. Unfortunately, I can’t use it because I have lash extensions, but before I had them I used lash serums all the time. They’re great if you’re looking to grow your own natural lashes. This product uses a peptide blend to condition your lashes, and biotin to help them grow. You apply it once a day along your upper lash line, and that’s it! Sit back and watch it work. It’s that easy!
LASplash Wickedly Divine Liquid Lipstick in Death Dealer – retail $18
Death Dealer is definitely a fun color with some fun packaging, I’ll give them that. But that’s about all I’m giving them. This color is a reddish, purple color. I find that the wand that it comes with is incredibly difficult to use, especially for such a fast drying lipstick. It’s just too big and holds an unnecessary amount of product on it. You have to be very careful when you’re applying it, because it will stain your skin (as shown in a photo below). I also thought that it applied very patchy, with the color only really grabbing onto certain areas of my lips. If you’re okay with all of that, then it’s definitely long lasting and not uncomfortable to wear.
LASplash Vanishing Potion in Coconut Concoction – retail $8.99
This is another fun item to receive. Again, unfortunately I can only use it for a limited amount of areas because it contains oils which would break down my lash extensions if it got on them. Not a chance that I want to take. I love the packaging though, it’s very unique. I really like coconut, so I find this scent appealing. This product isn’t specifically made for removal of their liquid lipsticks, but it’s widely praised for its ability to do so. It was super smart of Ricky’s to send them together, especially if anyone else struggled to apply it like I did.
Glamazon Créme Highlighter in Amber Lights – retail $24
I really love all of the packaging for the products in the month’s box! This little compact is super cute. I’ve never tried a cream highlighter before, but I found this applied easiest with a finger as opposed to a brush. Unlike the previous highlight they sent me, this one is actually a nice fit for my skin tone. It builds really nicely, so you could have a subtle glow or a blinding highlight. The only thing that I didn’t like was that it definitely showed a lot of texture underneath. Probably it would be a different experience if I was wearing foundation.
RickyCare Backstage Cleansing Wipes – retail $6.99 for a 30 ct
Eh.. I’m a little underwhelmed that I received two makeup removing items in the same box, but it’s not like it’s an item that I won’t use. Or, wouldn’t use.. These wipes contain oil as well which means, you guessed it.. They can’t go on my face. Despite this fact, I did use one to remove the highlight from my face and I wasn’t really impressed. It felt dry to me, even though I had just opened the package, and it left makeup behind. They’ll work in a fix, or for traveling, but I wouldn’t buy more.
Here are all of my swatches this month
The verdict:
This month I received 5 items. Sadly, two of those items (both makeup removers) contain oils which means that I shouldn’t use them. The lash serum I definitely can’t use, because of my extensions. That’s three products that wouldn’t ever be opened, or at least used rarely. I really disliked the liquid lipstick (actually I threw it away), but I really liked the cream highlighter and I’m excited to learn to use it better.
