How does the Glam Bag Plus work?
Type of subscription: beauty
Frequency: monthly
Product size: full!
Amount of products received: 5, always
Cost: $25/month

If you’re familiar with how ipsy works, then you’ll catch on pretty quick to the Glam Bag Plus. Each month you will receive a box of 5 full sized items. Every three months you will receive a makeup bag in your box as well. This is different from a regular ipsy subscription where the items are sample sizes and you receive a themed makeup bag every single month. Because all of the products in the Glam Bag Plus are full sized there are fewer variations than there are with it’s counterpart. That being said, they still try to take your beauty profile into consideration. It’s entirely possible though, that you could receive the same variation as one of your friends.

At the time of writing this blog post the Glam Bag Plus subscription is invite only. If after reading you decide that you would like the subscription then I would advise you to email ipsy customer service and ask to be placed on the waitlist. The only requirement for receiving the Glam Bag Plus is an already active ipsy subscription. You can create one here: ipsy.

I pay for this subscription.

Instead of just having a card with the product information on it the Glam Bag Plus comes with a fold out brochure. This brochure shows you all of the items that you received and how you can use them all.

I didn’t receive a makeup bag in my box this month. My next bag will come in my January box.

SLMISSGLAM Eyeshadow Brush Trio – retail $45. This is an ipsy Shopper item

I’m not a huge fan of SLMISSGLAM brushes. Don’t get me wrong, they’re gorgeous, but I just don’t feel like the quality is as good as most of the other brushes that I own. Especially for the inflated price. I find that they don’t pick up or hold product very well, but that’s just my experience. I know others who swear by this brand. These brushes are made with synthetic bristles and are, admittedly, super soft. This pack includes: eyeshadow (P15), eye angled shading (P17), and eye blending (P24).

OFRA Rodeo Drive Highlighter – retail $35

This highlighter is BEAUTIFUL! It’s beautiful in the way where I don’t want to use it. I just want to leave it open as a centerpiece on one of my end tables for myself and every person who visits to enjoy. I would describe this highlighter as a gold, champagne shade. It really gives your skin a bronzy type glow. The product itself is buttery and pigmented.

Makeup Geek Foiled Lip Gloss in “Acoustic” – retail $12 (on sale for $10 at this link!)

When I first saw that I was getting this lip gloss in my box I was like, “oh god!” But when I received it in my box and put it on my actual lips I was like, “ooooh, okay.” Acoustic is a deep purple, reddish color that’s a little difficult to describe, but trust me.. it’s perfect for Winter. So let’s start with the obvious: these glosses truly are metallic. You definitely need the right situation to wear them to. Not only is this gloss super pigmented, but it is comfortable to wear and has amazing stay power. I felt like this wore more like a lipstick than a gloss, which is my preference anyway. I really didn’t think that I was going to like this product on myself, but the longer I wore it, the more that I loved it.

Tarte Make Every Moment Count Cheek Palette – retail $32 (you can get 4% cash back by using Ebates on this site)

Don’t be fooled by the look of these blushes in the palette, they are incredibly pigmented. For my ugly sweater party I wore the shade “Love” thinking that it would give me soft, natural flush. Needless to say, I had to do A LOT of blending. Which isn’t a bad thing at all. Just something to be wary of. This palette contains three blushes: one shimmer and two mattes. These blushes are silky and easily blendable. There is some kickback in the palette when trying to pick them up, so be gentle. A lot of pressure isn’t required. The shades in this palette include: live (a peachy pink shimmer), learn (a matte nude pink), and love (a matte rosy pink). Like most other Tarte products, these babies will last you all night long without requiring re-application.

Dr. Brandt Skincare Needles No More No More Baggage Eye-Depuffing Gel – retail $42 (you can get 8% cash back using Ebates on this site)

Curated for a night shift worker, as I like to say. I’ve had great experiences with Dr. Brandt skincare items in the past so I was really excited to receive this product. It’s definitely a little on the thick side, so try warming it between your fingers before applying to make it a little easier on the sensitive skin under your eyes. It’s also kind of an odd orange color, so you’ll definitely know whether you’ve blended it all in or not. It doesn’t feel cakey, or crease under makeup which is nice. It was formulated to reduce under-eye bags and dark circles. This product is great, because you can actually feel it working which is rare with skincare items.

The verdict: the value of this box was $166, which is amazing considering the entire box only cost $25. The only product that I wasn’t a fan of was the brush trio, but I know many people who would be thrilled to receive them. The eye cream, highlighter, and blush palette were all items that I knew I was going to love, but I was genuinely surprised to find that I also really liked the lip gloss. ipsy definitely had some issues this past month with shipping. I received my November box on December 8th. However, it is a testament to ipsy customer service that they reached out to me (unsolicited) and offered me 500 points and my December box for free. Also, included in my November box were all three of the add ons that I purchased, a small gift for including mascara in my previous box, and an item that I ordered with points. Given their issues last month, I felt it would have been forgivable to have accidentally not included something, or messed something up, but no! It was all their and correct! Great job ipsy!

Here are all of my extra items:

And heres a look that I put together using this month’s items. Sorry for the terrible lighting. Winter in NY, am I right?

Thanks for reading!
