How does ipsy work?
Type of subscription: beauty
Frequency: monthly
Product size: sample, although most people will receive at least one full sized item
Amount of products received: 5, always
Cost: $10/month or $110/year
Each month you recieve a themed makeup bag stuffed with products. It’s a “try before you buy” type of subscription, and a generally fun way to find new things that you love (or hate). Every person’s bag is a different variation based off of the style quiz they complete upon signing up. That means you probably won’t get the same thing as your friends, which is pretty cool!

I pay for this subscription.
The theme for the month of December is.. duh, the holidays!
I love this bag! It’s bright and sparkly, which is perfect for the holidays! Some people may wish that it was more Christmas oriented, but I personally think that this bag will be an amazing accessory for my New Year’s outfit. The front of the bag is covered in gold sequins, while the back of the bag is black faux leather. The inside lining is a bright pink color, and the zipper is a black tassle.
First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads – full size retail $30 (you can receive 2.5% cash back on your order by using Ebates)
I’ve heard people raving about this product before, so I was really excited to see it in my bag this month. These pads are made with lactic and glycolic acids to help tone, exfoliate, and brighten skin. They’re gentle enough for someone with sensitive skin like myself to use daily. After using regularly my face feels and looks cleaner and has a subtle glow.
Luxie Beauty Precision Blending Eye Brush 243 (full size!) – retail $12
I love Luxie brushes. They’re always so beautiful, and of all of the brushes I’ve received in my subscriptions they are by far the best working. It’s made with synthetic bristles and has a tapered tip which is perfect for blending out your corners and crease with precision. The handle is pink with rose gold accents. Who doesn’t love rose gold!?
Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in “Kaled It” (full size!) – retail $15 (not for sale on their website, unfortunately)
I could have received this polish in “Kaled It” or “Zero Carbs” (a grey, purple color). I’m so glad I got the one that I did! I love this color. It’s described as a forest green, but I feel like there’s definitely some blue in there too. It’s absolutely gorgeous. And it’s a great polish. Trust Fund Beauty goes on opaque and is super pigmented, so no streaking or need for numerous coats to achieve a clean look. I love the glossy finish. The only downside is that it takes a little longer than some other polishes to dry down.
F.A.R.A.H Brushes Tapered Blending Brush 35E (full size!) – retail $10
For the holidays ipsy gifted all of its customers this brush as a sixth item. The brush that I’ve linked for you guys is the same brush, but this handle must be either an ipsy for holiday exclusive, because it’s not featured on their website. Anyway! I find this brush to be totally gorgeous. I mean, can you really have too many blending brushes? The brush itself is synthetic and does an amazing job at blending out eye products. I love the little indents for easier holding.
Morphe Lip Crayon in “RSVP” (full size!) – retail $9
This is a gorgeous colored lip product for the holidays. “RSVP” is described as a scarlet red color. It has a “soft” matte finish, which basically means that it applies smoothly and isn’t uncomfortable to wear, but offers all of the same positives of a matte like long wear. I like that this lip pencil is self sharpening, so I don’t have to own my own pencil sharpener.
I wish the lighting in this picture were better. Damn you NY winters.
Hey Honey Relax! Propolis and Honey Soothing Cream – full size retail $42
I love receiving samples of high end skincare items. This moisturizer is great for people with sensitive skin like myself. This cream really helped to soothe the redness that I experience on my nose and cheeks. Not to mention it smelled absolutely amazing. I found that it absorbed quickly without leaving behind that greasy feeling that I hate. Fun fact: it’s made with honey and propolis which both have antibacterial properties, so it doubles as an acne fighter. I love it when a product multitasks!
The verdict: I can’t remember the last time that I loved every single item in my ipsy bag. I think that my favorite items are the moisturizer, toning pads, nail polish, and lip crayon. But I also really like both of the beautiful brushes. So, basically.. EVERYTHING! I mean, I received four full size items out of six, which is unheard of. And can we talk about how they included a bonus item for a holiday gift? So generous! The value of just one of the brushes already exceeds the price of the entire bag! I know I can’t expect this every month, but I still can’t wait for January!
Thanks for reading!
